If you are an affiliate marketer, then no matter what level you are at, you can’t fail to notice the number of people promising to provide affiliate marketing tips and training, to help you to succeed. Often these tips come with a hefty price tag. However if I could give you one tip to help you to succeed, that would be to resist buying into promises of new methods that will propel you to overnight success, and concentrate on the following basic common sense tips that have been proven to be effective over time.
Find a starving crowd
By a starving crowd I mean a group with an urgent need to solve a specific problem. These people are by far the easiest group of people to sell to. Try putting yourself in their place, for example imagine you have a cat that keeps urinating behind your TV. You can see you have an urgent need, and you will probably spend an awful lot of time thinking about how to stop your cat doing it. Imagine if someone presents you with a solution, you will definitely listen right?
Finding these starving crowds is surprisingly straight forward. The best place to start is to search for forums in your niche. Looking through these forums will quickly show you the kind of question your target market is asking, and the problems they need solving.
Make a list of problems you can possibly provide a solution to, and move on to the next stage.
Give them what they want
Armed with your list you need to do a bit of digging, and find a product that can answer each question. Following the example of cat urination, you may find a great product that deters the cat from performing that antisocial behavior, or a book that gives solutions people can try.
Once you have your product, you need to find an affiliate program you can join so you can make a commission when you sell it to your customers. Searching online using product+affiliate program, or simply looking on the product vendors website for a link to affiliate or partner program will usually get results.
Once you have your product it simply remains to drive traffic to your affiliate link. Join the forum where you did your initial research, and start posting. Don’t promote your link directly as this may get you banned, rather have your link in your signature that goes beneath each post. Start answering posts, joining in the conversation, and being part of the community.
You should also write articles on your subject, and post them to article directories. Your articles need to offer helpful content, and be unique. Your link will go in your resource box at the end. These can work in two ways, by providing back links to your site, and increasing its ranking on search engines, and also by direct traffic from people reading it and clicking on the link provided. Articles can bring traffic long after you write them.
You can also comment on blogs in your niche. Make sure your comment is well written, and relates to the article you are commenting on, and you will get approved every time. As with articles these comments can bring direct traffic as well as link love.
don’t expect overnight success as this rarely happens, so don’t give up. Keep writing articles, and posting comments, and making forum posts. Over time your traffic and sales will build. Following these affiliate marketing tips each time you get involved in a new niche, or look for a new affiliate opportunity, and you should build a valuable business.
